Use with care, especially with course grain. Not a tool for beginners.

Quality product. This tool is invaluable to me. It eliminates setting up a router for most basic jobs. I don't see how I went so long without one, and this ones a good one with all of the blades.

This item works great for edge planing. As others have noted, try it on scrap wood first. This was my second attempt to get a chamfer plane. My first was a made-in-Japan item, which I deliberately picked as Japanese woodworking tools are generally well regarded for quality. The one I received was engineered in such a way that the blade would not deploy correctly. I returned it and ordered this Jorgeson model. Delivered today, I've already used it, and I'm pleased with the results.

Well constructed, responsive plane. Not the most necessary tool ever made, chamfering is fairly simple to accomplish without any special tools, but having the tool is always better than not having the tool. The one massive benefit to this is in the general amount of safety provided around the blade. You would have to put some effort into getting cut with this plane compared to other styles and this is absolutely excellent in regards to getting my 5 and 7 year old kids using hand tools. Its not an overly massive chunk of hard to handle steel that offers up cut fingers just from picking it up wrong. They will both be able to handle this safely and get it to work well as a result. This was not the reason I bought it, but after holding it I realized how well it will suit this task. Ill surely use it as well, it does work quite nicely and its bright orange. Easy to spot tools always have a decent chance of being used frequently when other things become invisible for some reason in the shop.Out of the box the blades are good and sharp. We all know that nothing is ever sharp enough and the first thing you will do is take the blades to stone no matter how much it cost or how well it cuts. Its okay, we all do it. But, in the mean time they cut clean and smooth. The unit is machined well and the adjustment wheel is smooth and responsive. It fits comfortably in the hand both as a push and a pull plane. The grooving is smooth and even, so it cuts a symmetrical chamfer. Its bright orange. I like it. Sure is better looking than gross yellow.Blades store on board. Good product, good price.

Just used this to round over the corners of the legs on a coffee table I am building. It is easy to set up and make gradual adjustments to. The blades are sharp out of the box and it is built to last. Great product

Works well. It's a Chinese knockoff on the pricier version but does the job well. Beware the red paint will rub off on your wood work at first.

Man this is handy! Puts a great edge on boards!

The surfaces needed a good bit of flattening and rhe edges were not well honed at all. I completely expected to have to tune it on arrival but the amount of flattening needed surprised me. I am confident it will function fine once well tuned and seemed robust enough for my purposes and minimal level of skill. If you do not know how to tune a plane of hand tool I'd keep looking as this will likely lead to less than ideal results on the finish as delivered. Without the ability to get flattened and honed well beyond a touch up would lead to frustration and likely some ruined projects.

I read the reviews on this plane and thought that maybe it was a bad batch and that I would get something better but after receiving the tool I found out the reason for the other reviews. . .paint! Instead of being made from a red block of aluminum, this plane is made of metal and painted red so when it is used it leaves a streak of red paint in its wake. I needed to re-sand the wood and return the plane.

Obviously, you can buy much more expensive versions of this tool; however, there are all kinds of videos out there telling you why you probably don't need to bother. I've used this a few times now, and for the most part,t it is working quite well. I've yet to use it on hardwood, which I'm sure is where it would work best; however, on plywood, as long as you're going in the right direction, you can get some nice results.

Works really well, had to tweak it a bit though. The blade was initially loose, fitting a second washer to the threaded shaft on the cutter fixed this, the adjuster was a bit difficult to use, carefully filing the recess it rotates in removed the casting burr it was binding onThe red paint in the V comes off on the wood you plane, once I sanded off it back to metal this was resolved. The blades require a hone before use.Overall a nice solid device , would buy another for the price. Removes nice clean shavings

Does a very good job of adding a quick radius to boards. Wasn't fond of the red paint in the v-groove (rough), so I sanded the two surfaces smooth. Then the steel left dark marks on the wood. I clear-coat them and its working for now. I plan to epoxy brass to those surfaces like the big named version.

I did not want to haul out a router to job site (no external power access) so I hesitantly purchased this tool. It is a fundamentally a hand planer with a curved blade for edges. It works surprisingly well on hard woods or woods without strong grains. I used it on sized construction timber to round off exposed edges. Some of the edges were splintered which would catch and be torn by the chamber planer. I needed to run the chamber planer in the direction with the splinter. The adjustment screw worked very well allowing me to adjust the cut depth in small increments to manage the splintered edges, and held the blade in place firmly. I am very happy with this purchase

This tools works pretty good. the depth for the cutting blade does not lock so it shifts a lot and you have to keep resetting it. But it does cut nicely.
